Alina Viehoff ist seit 2019 wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin in dem Projekt “Climate change in security perceptions, conceptions and practice at the United Nations Security Council“. Sie studierte Geographie an der Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, der Exeter University und an der Universität Hamburg. Während ihres Studiums setzte sie sich insbesondere mit der Kritischen Humangeographie auseinander. Darüber hinaus nahm sie an dem einjährigen Curriculum „Peacebuilding“ des Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker-Zentrums für Naturwissenschaft und Friedensforschung teil. Zwischen 2018 und 2019 arbeitete sie in dem DFG-Projekt „Die Wissenspolitik der (Un-)sicherheit im Anthropozän“ am IFSH.;
Since 2019, Alina Viehoff works as a researcher in the project “Climate change in security perceptions, conceptions and practice at the United Nations Security Council” at the IFSH. She studied Geography at Kiel University, Exeter University (UK) and at the University of Hamburg with a focus on Critical Human Geography. In addition, she participated in the one-year "Peacebuilding" program run by the Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker-Centre for Science and Peace Research. From 2018 to 2019, she worked in the DFG-funded project “The Knowledge Politics of Security in the Anthropocene” at the IFSH.

Im Rahmen des Projektes „Climate change in security perceptions, conceptions and practice at the United Nations Security Council” setzt sich Alina Viehoff damit auseinander, ob der Klimawandel einen Einfluss auf die Perzeption, Konzeption und Praxis von nationaler und internationaler Sicherheit im UN-Sicherheitsrat hat. Ausgehend von einem erweiterten Sicherheitsverständnis wird diese Frage anhand von 15 Länder-Fallstudien untersucht. Darüber hinaus beschäftigt sich Alina Viehoff mit diversen sozialen Grenzziehungsprozessen auf individueller bis hin zu globaler Ebene. Insbesondere eine postkoloniale Sichtweise auf die Entwicklungsidee und Entwicklungszusammenarbeit ist für ihre Forschung von zentraler Bedeutung. Im Rahmen ihrer Master-Thesis untersuchte sie in einer diskurstheoretischen und kritischen Analyse den Zusammenhang zwischen Migration, Sicherheit und Entwicklung im Kontext der aktuellen deutschen Entwicklungspolitik.;
In the context of the project, Alina Viehoff engages with the perception and conception of security risks and threats by the climate change of the member states of the UNSC. Based on a broad understanding of security, this question will be investigated by conducting 15 country case studies. In addition, she engages with social differentiation processes on individual to global scales. In particular, the postcolonial perspective on the idea of development and development cooperation is of central importance. As part of her Master's thesis, she conducted a discourse-theoretical and critical analysis of the relationship between migration, security and development in current German development policy.
