Biografie
Johara Berriane ist Professorin am Institut für Kulturwissenschaften an der Universität der Bundeswehr München und assoziierte Forscherin am Centre Marc Bloch. Sie studierte Anthropologie, Politikwissenschaft und Islamwissenschaft in Freiburg i. Brsg. und in Paris und promovierte 2014 in Berlin, mit einer Dissertation zu den transsaharischen Verflechtungen und Mobilitäten in Verbindung mit dem Sufi-Orden der Tidjâniyya. Anschließend war sie Gastforscherin am International Migration Institute in Oxford sowie Forscherin am Chaire d’études africaines comparées der Ecole d’économie et de gouvernance in Rabat. Später forschte und lehrte sie in Dakar im Rahmen der vom Deutschen Historischen Institut Paris und dem Centre de recherche sur les politiques sociales initiierten transnationalen Forschungsgruppe „Die Bürokratisierung Afrikanischer Gesellschaften“. Zuletzt war sie Forscherin und Co-Leiterin des Forschungsschwerpunkts „Mobilität, Migration und räumliche Neuordnungen“ am Centre Marc Bloch in Berlin und lehrte an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Ihre Forschung beschäftigt sich mit der Verbindung von Mobilität, Migration und Religion in afrikanischen Städten. Sie befasst sich insbesondere mit der Produktion von religiösen urbanen Räumen durch Zirkulation und Migration sowie mit der Rolle von religiösen Institutionen (sowohl christlichen als auch muslimischen) in der Einschreibung (encartement) der Identität von MigrantInnen und der Governance ihrer Mobilitäten. Ihre Feldforschungen führte sie in Marokko, Mali, Senegal und in der Elfenbeinküste durch. ;
Johara Berriane est enseignante chercheure au département d’études culturelles de l’Université de la Bundeswehr de Munich et chercheure associée au Centre Marc Bloch. Après des études d’anthropologie historique, de science politique et d’islamologie à la Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg i. Brsg. (Magister Artium), Johara Berriane a soutenu une thèse de doctorat à la Berlin Graduate School Muslim Cultures and Societies, Freie Universität Berlin. Elle a été chercheuse invitée à l’International Migration Institute d’Oxford, postdoctorante à la Chaire d’études africaines comparées de Rabat (EGE) et postdoctorante dans le programme transnational « La bureaucratisation des sociétés africaines » de l’Institut historique allemand de Paris et du Centre de recherche sur les politiques sociales et domicilié à Dakar. Ses travaux portent sur le lien entre mobilité, migration et religion dans les villes africaines. Elle s’intéresse tout particulièrement aux effets des circulations sur la production d’espaces religieux et au rôle des institutions confessionnelles (chrétiennes et musulmanes) dans l’encartement des identités de migrants et la gouvernance de leurs mobilités. Elle a mené des recherches de terrain au Maroc, Sénégal, Côte d’Ivoire et Mali. ;
Johara Berriane is Professor at the Institute for Cultural Studies of the University of the Bundeswehr in Munich and affiliated researcher at the Centre Marc Bloch. She holds a Magister Artium from the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg i. Brsg. and a PhD from the Freie Universität Berlin. She was visiting research fellow at the International Migration Institute Oxford, postdoctoral researcher at the Chaire d’études africaines comparées of Rabat (EGE) and member of the International Research Group “The Bureaucratization of African Societies” of the German Historical Institute of Paris and the Centre de recherche sur les politiques sociales in Dakar. Johara Berriane has been mainly working on the nexus of mobility, migration and religion in African cities. She is focusing on the effects of circulations and mobility on the production of religious spaces and on the role of religious institutions (Christian and Muslim) in the identification of migrants and the governance of their movements.
