Christina Reimann will present her approach to female political activism ‘taking place’ in the early twentieth century port city of Gothenburg. She will confront the Swedish suffrage organization’s nationalistic orientation with feminist internationalism of the period; relate the suffrage activism to other forms of female urban protests; and investigate to what extent ‘port city politics’ may have had a particularly strong transnational imprint and an anchoring within a specific urban sociability.
