Margareta von Oswald est anthropologue (PhD, EHESS Paris/Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin) et travaille à l’intersection de la recherche académique, des collections et de la société, actuellement au nouveau Centre d’Etudes Avancées inherit. heritage in transformation à la Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, et en tant que chercheuse associée du Centre Marc Bloch, Berlin. Dans ses recherches et sa pratique curatoriale, elle s’intéresse aux processus de négociation autour des patrimoines difficiles et interroge comment les musées peuvent devenir des lieux véritablement démocratiques. En 2023, elle a initié avec un collectif international de chercheur.euse.s et de professionnel.le.s du patrimoine le programme Académie des Traces, avec le Centre Marc Bloch comme partenaire principale, qui ouvre des espaces de dialogue sur les collections coloniales entre les continents européen et africain.
