Konflikt Dynamiken  After completing a doctoral thesis on the post-communist transition of Soviet economic elites, Sophie Lambroschini undertook a postdoctoral research funded by the Marc Bloch Center to study the continuity and reorganization of networks and economic ties in the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine. She observes locally near the frontline how economic and everyday practices of the population and businesses transform as a result of the war. In 2018, she defended a dissertation in Slavic studies at the University of Paris Nanterre on the trajectories and practice of Soviet bankers on „capitalist“ markets during the Cold War (1971-) and their legacy in post-Soviet Russia. She is a specialist for today’s Ukraine and has conducted numerous field studies during the ten years she has lived in Kiev. A book, The Ukrainians (Ed. Henry Dougier 2014 and 2016) is the result and reflects her experience in this field, which she first developed as a journalist in Russia and Ukraine. Her on-going research looks at how economic interactions, strategies and networks of elite and ordinary actors transform in a context of geopolitical, military ideological conflict or crisis, at the example of the conflict in Donbas and Russian transnational infrastructure networks.;

Sophie Lambroschini est experte de la Russie et de l’Ukraine contemporaines avec un intérêt particulier pour les élites, les acteurs économiques ordinaires et la sociologie économique des conflits. En 2018, elle a entrepris une recherche sur la transformation des interactions économiques locales dans la guerre dans l’est de l’Ukraine à travers un cas d’étude anthropologique, celui d’une régie d’approvisionnement en eau ukrainienne opérant des deux côtés de la ligne de front. Son nouveau projet, financé par le Centre Marc Bloch, élargit cette approche de géopolitique „par le bas“ à l’étude de la manière dont les dynamiques économiques et politiques locales en Europe centrale et orientale sont affectées par les projets transnationaux d’infrastructures et de connectivité eurasiennes, notamment les réseaux russes d’exportation de gaz et de pétrole. En 2018, elle a soutenu une thèse en études slaves et est-européennes à l’Université Paris Nanterre portant sur les élites transnationales soviétiques dans un contexte de transformation globale. Son travail analyse les trajectoires et les pratiques de banquiers soviétiques sur les marchés „capitalistes“ pendant la guerre froide (1971- ) et leur héritage dans la Russie post-soviétique. Journaliste à Moscou et à Kiev (1994-2008), elle a publié un livre (Les Ukrainiens éd. Henry Dougier 2014 et 2016)  contextualisant la crise ukrainienne de 2014 dans une perspective historique, politique et sociale. Sophie Lambroschini is an expert of contemporary Russia and Ukraine with an eye on elite networks, ordinary economic actors, and economic sociology of conflict. In 2018, she began to investigate how the war in eastern Ukraine transforms local economic interactions through anthropological research into cross-frontline water supply. Her new project, funded by the Centre Marc Bloch, expands these „geopolitics from below“ to exploring how local economic and political dynamics in Central and Eastern Europe are affected by Eurasian transnational infrastructure and connectivity projects, Russian gas and oil export networks in particular. In 2018, she defended a dissertation in Slavic studies at the University of Paris Nanterre about transnational Soviet elites in a context of global transformation, through a study of the trajectories and practice of Soviet bankers on „capitalist“ markets during the Cold War (1971-) and their legacy in post-Soviet Russia. Formerly working as a journalist in Moscow and Kyiv (1994-2008) she published a book (Les Ukrainiensed. Henry Dougier 2014 and 2016) contextualizing the Ukraine crisis of 2014 from a historical, political and social perspective.
