VITA
Arthur Bueno ist Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an der Universität Passau, Assoziierter Forscher am Centre Marc Bloch in Berlin sowie Assoziierter Forscher am Brazilian Center for Analysis and Planning (Cebrap). Zuvor war er Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt, Affiliate Professor an der Universidade de São Paulo sowie Gastprofessor an der Universität Pisa und Gastwissenschaftler an der Université Paris Nanterre und der SUNY Buffalo State University.
Er ist Autor der Bücher The Return of the Authoritarian Character? Neoliberalism’s Aftermath (mit S. Gurisch, erscheint bei Bloomsbury), Critical Theory and New Materialisms (mit H. Rosa und C. Henning), De-Centering Global Sociology: The Peripheral Turn in Social Theory and Research (mit M. Teixeira und D. Strecker) sowie Georg Simmel: O conflito da cultura moderna e outros escritos.
Zudem ist er Vizepräsident der Georg Simmel Gesellschaft, Präsident des Research Committee on Conceptual and Terminological Analysis der International Sociological Association sowie Vize-Koordinator des Research Network on Social Theory der European Sociological Association.
Seine Forschung konzentriert sich auf Transformationen zeitgenössischer Subjektivität, insbesondere auf Formen psychischen Leidens und deren politische Implikationen.

Der neue autoritäre Charakter: Deutschland und Brasilien im Vergleich

Dieses Forschungsprojekt untersucht neue Formen des Autoritarismus in Deutschland und Brasilien. Trotz des wachsenden Interesses an diesem Thema gibt es bislang keine systematische vergleichende Analyse der sozialpsychologischen Strukturen von Unterstützerinnen und Unterstützern autoritärer Bewegungen in Ländern des globalen Nordens und Südens. Ziel des Projekts ist es, diese Forschungslücke zu schließen, indem die Charakterstrukturen der Anhängerschaft neuer autoritärer Bewegungen in Deutschland und Brasilien vergleichend analysiert werden.
Unsere bisherigen Studien zeigen eine enge Verbindung zwischen neoliberalen Freiheitsvorstellungen und neuen autoritären Einstellungen in beiden Ländern, zugleich aber auch erhebliche Unterschiede. In Deutschland lassen sich zwei deutlich unterschiedliche Einstellungsgruppen unterscheiden: reaktionäre und libertäre Autoritäre. In Brasilien hingegen tendieren diese Strömungen dazu, sich in einer einheitlichen politischen Bewegung zu bündeln.
Unsere Hypothese lautet, dass sich die Unterschiede in den Formen der Unterstützung autoritärer Bewegungen als unterschiedliche Ausprägungen derselben sozialpsychologischen Struktur verstehen lassen. Zur Überprüfung dieser Hypothese verwenden wir einen Mixed-Methods-Ansatz, der quantitative Umfragen mit qualitativen Tiefeninterviews kombiniert.
