A warm invitation to the online workshop of the Académie des Traces!
The Académie des Traces is a programme designed to help researchers, museum professionals and independent curators gain a better understanding of the major societal challenge represented by the colonial collections held in Western museums, which are inextricably linked to a plurality of memories that are always sensitive and often painful.
This series of online events discusses four central aspects of working through and with colonial collections and allows to open up multiple perspectives, both from professionals from the museum and heritage sector as well as from academia. It is the result of a collaboration between individuals from different European universities, based in Berlin, Paris, and Bucharest, and from the École du Patrimoine Africain in Porto-Novo.
Return/ Repatriate is the title of the workshop's third installment with the following guests:
Honoré Tchatchouang (Ecole du Patrimoine Africain) and Margareta von Oswald (Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin) in conversation with Cindy Olohou (independent researcher and curator), Rossila Goussanou (Musée Théodore Monod, Dakar) and online participants.
Below you will find an overview of the sessions, open to all, where you can register directly. The online- events will be held in English and French thanks to simultaneous translation.
