Postcolonial Skies examines how African nations utilized aviation to project modernity and independence in the aftermath of colonial rule, while still navigating the lingering political and economic ties of empire. Tracking the development of airports, airlines, and flight networks, this book analyzes aviation both as an achievement of postcolonial ambitions and as a site that reveals the complexities of neocolonial relationships. From runways to airplane liveries, Postcolonial Skies explores aviation's cultural and material role in visions of pan-African futurity and mobility after independence.

Marie Huber erforscht die Geschichte der Entwicklung und Nationenbildung in Afrika aus einer globalhistorischen Perspektive sowie die transnationale Entstehung und Verbreitung von Wissen und die Entwicklung wirtschaftlicher Erwartungen. Sie hat an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in Geschichte promoviert.
