Biography

I am Associate Professor at École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) and researcher at CIRED, Paris and member of the Chair Energy and Prosperity.

Researchtopic

My research focuses on the socio-economic aspects of climate change, the role of economics in decision making and how economics deals with the environment. My current work explores the interplay between ecological transition and social justice.

Ecological transition and social justice

The research project studies the pitfalls encountered by the policies and measures settled to mitigate climate change. It focuses especially on the equity dimensions of these measures and more generally on social justice.

What are the economic and social consequences of mitigation policies? According to what criteria can they be considered unjust? Can perceived injustices be remedied and how? What instruments and policies can be used to achieve a just transition? These questions, which are crucial for the success of low-carbon strategies and thus for halting global warming, will be studied with the tools of social sciences and economics.

In particular, the project will analyze which conceptions of justice are prevalent in debates about mitigation policies applied to the case of energy transition already present in the public debate. The analysis of the discourse on this issue in different arenas will help to identify what is feeled as unjust and what is deemed just in the context of the ecological transition. This will help to enrich the notion of equity used in modelling work.
