Climate politics and activism – ways to a just zero-emission-society in Berlin, Paris and Kyiv. Building a European intersectional network between activists, researchers and practitioners

24.11.2023 – 25.11.2023
15:00

The workshop We will start on Friday late afternoon with presenting ourselves and looking at the broader question: In climate politics, it is five to 12. The current wars and conflicts are justifiably attracting a lot of attention, but threaten to push the climate crisis into the background. How can science and climate activism in the three metropolitan regions mutually support each other in order to move politics towards compliance with the Paris Agreement in the current very difficult political environment? On Saturday, we will explore different ideas how to think about transforming our three metropolitan-regions in a just way (see the detailed text below). Program 1 ”Inclusive transformation”: We will explore possible cooperations with social justice groups representing marginalized or most affected people, developing plans for a zero emission society. How can inclusive just cooperations look like and how can they be organized in the future?  Program 2 ”Common ground”: Is it possible for us to find a common ground and common principles for a set of values and action methods for the transformation needed so that there could be a European movement of researchers, activists and practitioners taking stance for a sustainable society against the status quo?  Program 3 ”Future collaboration”: Looking back and forward: How could we work together in the future building one strong European force for change built upon the inclusive principles?
