Workshop “ Urban Forms, Urban Lives ”
20.09.2018 – 21.09.2018
13:45
The concept of „forms of life“ (Lebensformen), which describes configurations of human co-existence by emphasizing the practices that produce and transform them, has started circulating and permeating several domains of thought, from philosophy to anthropology and history of science. Either within Critical Theory, or in the Ordinary Language Philosophy inspired by Wittgenstein and Stanley Cavell, or in Foucauldian “biopolitics”, or within new trends in anthropology the notion of « forms of life » challenges the articulation between the « social » and the « vital », essential to the institutions of a human world. This workshop aims to analyze cities as forms of life.
