Le 4 décembre de 14 à 16 heures en salle Georg Simmel aura lieu la seconde séance des Rencontres "penser les rapports de pouvoirs articulés" de 2017/2018 qui va s'intéresser à la construction de la classe sociale au prisme de la Colombie et des Etats-Unis. Isis Giraldo (Université de Lausanne) nous présentera une partie de son travail de thèse récemment soutenu sur la Colombie. Nous croiserons les approches avec la lecture d'un texte de Nancy Isenberg "White trash. The 400-Year Untold History of Class in America" que vous trouverez en pièce jointe et sur l'intranet. Isis présentera son travail en anglais.

The expression Ciudano De Bien In / and the 21st-Century Colombian 'National Symbolic' :

For this talk, Isis Giraldo will focus on abjection in relation to colombianidad. The central claim is that the idea of the Colombian nation is encapsulated in ciudadano de bien, translated as ‘citizen that comes from good’, a category that derives from the body regimes that have been in operation since the founding of the Colombian Republic and which contains in its bare form the very boundaries of the nation. Further, ciudadano de bien points to a national space of struggle that is overtly and violently divided by inequalities along every possible social location.
