Dana Schmalz ist wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Max-Planck-Institut für ausländisches öffentliches Recht und Völkerrecht in Heidelberg/Berlin und Stipendiatin der Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung. Sie befasst sich mit Fragen von internationalem Recht und Rechtstheorie, insbesondere mit dem Flüchtlingsrecht und mit Menschenrechten im Kontext von Migration. Dana Schmalz wurde 2017 an der Universität Frankfurt mit einer Arbeit zu Flüchtlingsrecht und Demokratietheorie promoviert. Ihr Buch Refugees, Democracy and the Law. Political Rights at the Margins of the State ist im September 2020 bei Routledge erschienen. Dana Schmalz war als Postdoc am Max-Planck-Institut zur Erforschung multireligiöser und multiethnischer Gesellschaften (MPIMMG) in Göttingen (2017-2018), als Gastwissenschaftlerin an der New School in New York, als Vertretungsprofessorin an der Universität Bremen, sowie zuletzt als Gastwissenschaftlerin an der Columbia Law School in New York. Sie ist Co-Editor-in-Chief des Völkerrechtsblogs sowie Associate Editor beim Verfassungsblog;

Dana Schmalz est chercheuse à l'Institut Max Planck de Droit Public Comparé et de Droit International à Heidelberg/Berlin et soutenue par la Fondation Alexander von Humboldt. Dana Schmalz is a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg/Berlin, she is supported by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Her work focuses on international law and legal theory, in particular on refugee law and on human rights in the context of migration. Dana Schmalz holds a Ph.D. in law from the University of Frankfurt (2017) and an LL.M. in Comparative Legal Thought from Cardozo Law School, New York.
