Biografie
Ich bin im Jahre 1956 geboren und habe moderne Sprachen an der Universitat Cambridge - GB studiert und da auch mit einer Arbeit uber die Religions und Geschichtsphilosophie Hegels promoviert. In Deutschland habe ich in Freiburg und Tubingen studiert. Seitdem habe ich an den Universitaten Liverpool 1985-1988, Cambridge 1988 -1994 und Birkbeck College, London 1994-2018 unterrichtet. Birkbeck ist ein Kolleg der Universitat London, der vorwiegend in der Erwachsenenbildung ausgewiesen ist. Mein Hauptforschungsinteresse ist die interkulturelle Kommunikation, insbesondere in bezug auf die heutige Relevanz der Sprachphilosophie Wilhelm von Humboldts ;

En Allemafne j ai etudie aussi aux universites de Freiburg im Breisgau 1977-1978 et Tubingen 1982-1983. J ai ete aussi maitre deconferences et directeur d etudes aux universites de Liverpool 1985-1988, Cambridge 1988-1994 et Birkbeck College de l universite de Londres 1994-2018. Birkbeck est un college qui s occupe surtout de l enseignement des gens travail. Je m interesse surtout pour la probleme de la communication interculturelle, dans le contexte de la philosophie linguistique et politique de Wilhelm von Humboldt et Jurgen Habermas. ;
Born in 1956, I studied at the University of Cambridge where I took my B:A: in 1979 and my PhD in 1985 with a thesis on the relationship between Hegels philosophies of history and religion. I have also studied in Germany at the universities of Freiburg im Breisgau 1977-1978 and Tubingen 1982-1983. Since then I have taught at the universities of Liverpool 1985-1988, Cambridge 1988-1994 and since then as Reader in German Intellectual History at Birkbeck College of the University of London, an institution which specialises in the education of working people. My main research interest is in the question of intercultural and interfaith communication, particularly in the context of the linguistic and political philosophy of Wilhelm von Humboldt and some modern responses to it, especially in the work of Martin Buber and Jurgen Habermas

I am currently working on a book entitled Wilhelm von Humboldt and Transcultural Communication in a Multicultural World. Translating Humanity. My main interest is in the relevance of Humboldts thought to the problem of intercultural and interfaith communication in the contemporary world, especially in relation to the dialogic philosophy of Martin Buber and the most recent work of Jurgen Habermas.;
I am currently working on a book entitled Wilhelm von Humboldt and Intercultural Communication in a Multicultural World. Translating Humanity. Ich bin Mitherausgeber mit Dr Ian Cooper der Universitat Kent GB des Sammelbandes Religion and Literature in Germany 1200-2017, das im nachsten Jahr bei Cambridge Universitz Press erscheinen wird.. Ich bin Mitglied der Forschungsgruppe Occident und Orient, die die Universitaten Warwick GB, New Delhi und Wien verbindet. Personlich bin ich an einem Dialog zwischen Christen, Juden und Moslemen in Cambridge beteiligt.;
Je suis coediteur avec Dr Ian Cooper de l universite de Kent GB de la collection d essais Religion and Literature in Germany, qui va etre publiee chez Cambridge University Press a l annee prochaine. Je fais part de l unite de recherche Occident et Orient, qui rejoint les universites de Warwick GB;
Vienne et New Delhi. En qualite personnelle je fais part d une groupe de dialogue entre chretiens, juifs et musulmans a Cambridge.;
I am coeditor with Dr Ian Cooper of the University of Kent GB of a volume of essays Religion and Literature in Germany 1200 - 2017, which will appear next zear with Cambridge University Press. I am part of the Occident and Orient research network which links the universities of Warwick GB;
Vienna and New Delhi. In a personal capacity I am part of a group dialogue between Christians, Jews and Muslims in Cambridge.
