From Ground Zero

From Ground Zero is a compilation of 22 short films by directors from Gaza. Shot between December 2023 and March 2024, the films, which are between three and six minutes long, capture individual perspectives on the current reality of war in Gaza. With a genre mix of feature film, documentary, docu-fiction, animation and experimental cinema, From Ground Zero presents a variety of stories that reflect the grief, the will to survive, the joy and the hope inherent in life in Gaza.
The project was launched by Rashid Masharawi, an internationally renowned Palestinian film-maker from Gaza.

Compilation film of 22 short contributions, 111 min or in 2 parts of approx. 56 min each, various genres, Arabic with German or English subtitles

Further screenings will take place on Nov. 17 (4:15 p.m.) original with German subtitles and discussion with Irit Neidhardt, Diana Nazzal and Jose Segebre (Akademie der Künste) and on Nov. 19 and 20 (without discussion).
