Biography

Théophile Leroy is a Phd candidate at the Historical Research Center of the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (EHESS), Paris. He studies the persecutions and genocide of the Rhine Sinti families occurring in Alsace and Moselle, two german-annexed territories. Using microhistorical approach and mobilizing Bad Arolsen archives, he works on the trajectories of the persecuted Rhine Sinti families between 1940 and 1944 to understand the mechanisms, actors and chronologies of Sinti genocide application in Western Europe. His thesis has been funded by the Foundation for the Memory of the Shoah since September 2019.
