Biographie
Prof. Dr. Manfred Oberlechner-Duval conducted research as visiting scholar at the Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam, as well as at the Institute for Migration- and Ethnic Studies (IMES) of the Universiteit van Amsterdam, at the Université de Strasbourg and the Université de Lorraine-Metz. Completed university studies in sociology, political science, French language and culture, sociology of migration and ethnicity research, migration, and religious studies, as well as German as a second/foreign language. Work stays at, among others, the European Migration Committee of the Council of Europe and the European Parliament. Awarded the Dr.-Alois-Mock-Förderpreis in support of research in the field of multiculturalism with a particular focus on questions of tolerance and humanism, the Innovative Teaching Prize of the Paris Lodron University Salzburg for teaching in the field of migration and integration, and a European Academy of Sciences and Arts research prize. Assistant at the Mozarteum University of Arts; Integration and Migration Coordinator in the office of the Salzburg regional government in section 12/06: Migration. Guest lecturer at, among others, the Université de Lorraine, the Université de Strasbourg, the Paris Lodron University Salzburg, the Mozarteum University of Arts, and the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. Editor, co-editor and author of numerous publications and trained and certified teacher of German as a second language. Main teaching and research areas: pedagogical and sociological migration research, critical social theory, critical pedagogy in the migration society, sociology of education and sociology of knowledge, civic education in the migration society. Official functions and memberships: member of the European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI), fellow of the Institute for Social Research (IfS) at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt, full member of the German Educational Research Association, full member of the Austrian Association for Sociology (ÖGS) in the field of migration and racism research, full member of the Salzburg Migration and Mobility Research Lab (MML PLUS) at the Paris Lodron University Salzburg, which is part of the IMISCOE research network, full member of the Austrian Society for Research and Development in Education (ÖFEB), member of the “Geographical Migration Research” working group of the German Society for Geography (DGfG).
