Biography
Anati Méjanès’ first encounter with the Franco-German dialogue took place during a one-year exchange program at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich. Upon her return to France, she completed her MSc in Franco-German contemporary history at the Sorbonne University of Paris-IV under the direction of Olivier Forcade and Rainer Hudemann. She then left the university to work for several years in project management, mainly in communication agencies.
Her interest in urban issues led her to resume her studies and to train in geography. To do so, she joined the EHESS (the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences) for its interdisciplinary approach, first for a MSc and then for a PhD under the direction of Marie-Vic Ozouf-Marignier and Beatriz Fernández.
A member of the social sciences research center Géographie-cités, Anati Méjanès works on the socio-spatial forms of coexistence in the semi-peripheral neighborhoods of Paris and Berlin. She is interested in historically industrial and working-class neighborhoods that have been undergoing significant urban, social, and economic transformations in the past few decades.
