Biography

Francis Tremblay is a doctoral student in comparative literature at the University of Montreal (Canada) and an associate doctoral student at the Marc Bloch Center in Berlin. Following a bachelor’s degree in philosophy (UdeM, 2016) and a master's degree in comparative literature (UdeM, 2018), his doctoral research focuses on the work of Edgar Zilsel (1891-1944) as well as its legacy and relevance for a contemporary study of the social and conceptual construction of “genius” and representations of creativity. Recent publications include notably « Feminine Genius on Screen: on Margarethe von Trotta’s Biopics », In Germanophone Feminist and Queer Literature, Film, and Culture (2025), as well as « Thersite peut-il parler? Violence discursive dans les usages de Thersite, de Homère à aujourd’hui », In COMPLIT: Journal of European Literatures, Arts and Society, 2025, 1, no. 8.
