Post-socialist urban transformations in Saint Petersburg (Russia): The progression of urban authoritarianism through urban renewal
Summary of thesis

Using a mixed methodology that incorporates qualitative (semi-structured interviews, observation, discourse analysis), quantitative (mapping, statistics), and digital (network analysis, digital ethnography) approaches, this doctoral project aims to propose an analysis of post-socialist urban transformations. The goal is to advance scientific research on urban renewal policies and the reactions of residents and experts to these policies, based on a little-known example that could be useful for a better understanding of contemporary urban developments in Saint Petersburg and political mobilizations in an authoritarian urban context.
