Biography

Sanja Beronja is a PhD student in Sociology at EHESS (Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales) Paris. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences and a Master's degree in International Affairs from Sciences Po Paris. She then did a Master's degree in General Sociology at EHESS before starting her PhD.

She is a member of the international network "Working Futures" https://www.wiko-berlin.de/institution/projekte-kooperationen/projekte/working-futures/ (Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin/ re:work).

Sanja is writing a dissertation about upper class engagement in tech entrepreneurship in France and Germany. She focuses on technological innovation in finance ("fintech"), an exemplary sector of globalized, digital and financial capitalism. Based on a comparison of the start-up ecosystems in Paris and Berlin and the paths of start-up founders in both cities, Sanja analyzes the mechanisms of social (re)production in transnational contexts.
